Enumerate microbial plate counts from milk, dairy products, food, water and other specimens of sanitary importance with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Standard Methods Agar (Dehydrated).

The Agar conforms to formulation specified by The Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC)2, American Public Health Association (APHA), Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater3,4,5, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and International Diary Federation (IDF) confirms the formulation of the Tryptone Glucose Yeast (TGY) Agar.

Enumerate microbial (bacterial) plate counts using the dehydrated medium Standard Methods Agar.

The milk in the Tryptone Glucose Extract Milk Agar is eliminated to provide a medium free from precipitate, to achieve a clearer background and to produce large colonies. This is the formulation of the Standard Methods Agar. The nutrients necessary for bacterial growth are provided by casein peptone present in the medium. The source of B-complex is yeast extract, and dextrose is the energy source.
