Engineered specifically for the growth of bronchial epithelial cells such as IB3-1, S9, and C38, BEAS-2B, BZR, BBM, Het-1A, NHBE (normal human bronchial epithelial cells), and BBE (bovine bronchial epithelial cells) for asthma, allergy, lung cancer, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary, and esophageal cancer research without further supplements.

Cell Medium ACF, without glutamine and NaHCO3, is a complete medium.

IPL-41 Insect Medium (1X) (Gibco™)

Gibco® IPL-41 Insect Medium was originally designed for the growth of Spodeptera frugiperda (Sf9) cells and the expression of recombinant Autographa Californica Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus (rAcNPV) using the Baculovirus Expression Vector System (BEVS). We offer a variety of Gibco® Media options for a range of insect cell culture applications.

This IPL-41 Insect Medium is modified as follows:

The complete formulation is available. IPL-41 Insect Medium contains unique components required for insect cell culture, including malic acid, fumaric acid, and alpha-ketoglutaric acid.

Dual Site cGMP Manufacturing and Quality System
Gibco® IPL-41 Insect Medium is manufactured at a cGMP compliant facility, located in Grand Island, New York. The facility is registered with the FDA as a medical device manufacturer and is certified to ISO 13485 standards. For supply chain continuity, we offer a comparable Gibco® IPL-41 Insect Medium product made in our Scotland facility (11405-057). This facility is registered with the FDA as a medical device manufacturer and is certified to the ISO 13485 standard.

Gibco® IPL-41 Insect Medium is commonly supplemented with 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) before use. IPL-41 Insect Medium requires ambient CO2in order to maintain physiological pH.

PSC Neural Induction Medium (Gibco™)

Gibco® PSC Neural Induction Medium is a serum-free medium that provides high efficiency neural induction of human pluripotent stems cells (PSCs) in only 7 days. Unlike existing methodologies, use of PSC Neural Induction Medium does not require the intermediary step of embryoid body (EB) formation, which adds time, labor, and variability. Neural Stem Cells (NSCs) generated using PSC Neural Induction Medium have high expression of NSC markers and can be further differentiated into other neural cell types.

PSC Neural Induction Medium enables:

Rapid induction of NSCs—high efficiency neural induction in only 7 days, without EB formation
Scalable production of NSCs:—generate >20 million NSCs starting from 1 million PSCs
Generation of high quality NSCs—resulting NSCs can be cryopreserved, expanded, and differentiated

Rapid Induction of NSCs
PSC Neural Induction Medium simplifies the NSC generation workflow by eliminating the need to form EBs or rosettes. By removing this step, PSC Neural Induction Medium enables a more reproducible process with high efficiency neural induction in only 7 days.

Scalable Production of NSCs
PSC Neural Induction Medium is a robust medium that has been shown to generate over 20 million NSCs from 1 million PSCs. The medium has been tested with multiple hPSC lines including hiPSCs derived from use of Episomal iPSC Reprogramming Vectors and the CytoTune®-iPS Sendai Reprogramming Kit.

Generation of High Quality NSCs
Neural stem cells generated using PSC Neural Induction Medium have >80% expression of Sox1, Sox2, and Nestin (NSC markers), and <1% expression of Oct4 (pluripotency marker). In addition, expanded NSCs maintained phenotype, exhibited normal karyotype, and could be differentiated into neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes.

ExpiSf™ CD Medium (Gibco™)

ExpiSf CD Medium is a GMP-manufactured, chemically defined, yeastolate-free, serum-free, protein-free, animal origin-free medium specifically designed for high-density growth, transfection, and baculovirus infection of suspension-adapted Sf9 (Spodoptera frugiperda) insect cells.

ExpiSf CD Medium:
• Delivers high reproducibility and lot-to-lot reliability
• Facilitates high-level expression of baculovirus-infected cultures, achieving protein yields three times higher than traditional insect expression platforms
• Supports growth of suspension Sf9 cultures to densities of approximately 2 x 107 cells/mL, with >90% cell viability
• Supports high-density infection of suspension Sf9 cells with recombinant baculovirus
• Supports growth, transfection, and baculovirus infection of Sf9 cells in culture formats from 24-deep well plates to >2 L in shaker flasks
• Is a ready-to-use formulation, with no supplementation required

ExpiSf CD Medium is a core component of the ExpiSf Expression System. For highest level protein expression, the medium is used in combination with a matched protein expression enhancer, ExpiSf Enhancer, which is supplied as part of the ExpiSf Protein Production Kit. Sf21 cells adapted to other commercially-available serum-free media may be adapted for growth in ExpiSf CD Medium; although, sequential adaptation is required and high-density growth isn’t guaranteed. ExpiSf CD Medium is not recommended for adherent cell cultures. Cells are typically grown in Erlenmeyer-style flasks on a shaker platform in a non-humidified, non-CO2 cell culture incubator.

cGMP manufacturing
ExpiSf CD Medium is manufactured using an ISO 13485-certified process according to 21 CFR 820 medical device current good manufacturing practices (cGMP).

Dry media formulations

CHO-S-SFM II, with hypoxanthine and thymidine (Gibco™)

CHO-S-SFM II, is a complete, serum-free, low-protein (less than 100 µ/ml) medium optimized for the growth and maintenance of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells in suspension culture for production of recombinant proteins. It is supplemented with hypoxanthine and thymidine (the non-supplemented equivalent is also available). This ready-to-use medium is suitable for the suspension culturing of CHO and other cells in batch, continuous, and perfusion culture systems. A CHO-S-SFM II medium Drug Master File (DMF) has been submitted to the FDA. Permission to cross-reference the Master File may be obtained by contacting Technical Services or your local Sales Representative.

This medium contains components of animal origin. If growth factors or hydrolysates, found in competitor media, are to be avoided, consider CD CHO, CD OptiCHO™ or CD FortiCHO™ media.

When to use CHO-S-SFM II Medium
• Your cells have been successfully cultured in CHO-S-SFM II medium in the past and your process is nearing a regulatory filing (DMF available)

When to Consider Another Gibco® Medium

Consider CD FortiCHO™ medium when:
• The cell line you are using is a transfected CHO K1, GS CHO or CHO-S™ cell line
• Maximum batch culture cell densities and protein titers are needed
• You have time to adapt cells into a new medium in an effort to maximize titers
• Cell health at harvest is a priority for downstream processing

Consider CD OptiCHO™ medium when:
• You are using a transfected CHO cell line other than CHO K1, GS CHO or CHO-S™ cell lines
• Optimization of feeding strategies will be part of your base medium selection testing in an effort to maximize productivity
• Your CHO cell line is “finicky," i.e. hard to grow or adapt

Consider CD CHO medium when:
• Your GS CHO cells are recommended to be grown in CD CHO medium
• Your cells have been successfully cultured in CD CHO medium in the past and your process is nearing a regulatory filing (DMF available)

Consider CD DG44 medium when:
• You use parental DG44 or DXB11 CHO cells (dhfr-)

Essential 8™ Medium (Gibco™)

Essential 8™ Medium is a xeno-free and feeder-free medium specially formulated for the growth and expansion of human pluripotent stem cells (PSCs). Originally developed by Guokai Chen et al. in the laboratory of James Thomson (published as "E8") and validated by Cellular Dynamics International, Essential 8™ Medium has been extensively tested and proved to maintain pluripotency in multiple iPSC lines. In addition, Essential 8™ Medium has been used to scale up production of iPSCs and shown to support iPSC growth for >50 passages without any signs of karyotypic abnormalities, along with maintaining the ability of iPSCs to differentiate into all three germ line lineages.

Reduced Variability

Medium 154CF/PRF, Kit (Gibco™)

A sterile, liquid medium for the culture of human epidermal keratinocytes. Medium 154CF⁄PRF is Medium 154 prepared without calcium chloride or phenol red. Calcium chloride is provided as a separate component with each bottle of medium. This basal medium requires the addition of HKGS (S-001-5) or HKGS Kit (S-001-K) prior to use.

StemPro™ Osteogenesis Differentiation Kit (Gibco™)

CTS™ Essential 8™ Medium (Gibco™)

CTS Essential 8 Medium is an animal-origin-free (AOF), feeder-free medium formulated for the growth and expansion of both embryonic and induced human pluripotent stem cells (PSCs). Essential 8 Medium is the most defined PSC medium as described in the original publication by Guokai Chen et al. in the laboratory of James Thomson. CTS Essential 8 Medium enables the transition from bench to clinic through the direct replacement of research-use-only (RUO) Essential 8 Medium.

CTS Essential 8 Medium:
• Reduces the risks associated with animal origin material through an AOF formulation
• Facilitates regulatory filings through cGMP manufacturing and the availability of documentation
• Simplifies the transition from bench to clinic with the same 8-component formulation as RUO Essential 8 Medium, but with AOF components

Reduces risks from animal-origin material
CTS Essential 8 Medium contains no animal- or human-derived components at the primary component level, thereby reducing the risks associated with animal-origin components. It is the only commercially available AOF medium for pluripotent stem cell culture: Competitors’ similar-grade products are only xeno-free, containing human serum albumin (HSA), which brings additional risks in a clinical environment.

Facilitates regulatory filings
Gibco CTS products are manufactured at a site that uses methods and controls that conform with cGMP for medical devices, 21 CFR Part 820. Our FDA-registered manufacturing site is ISO 13485- and ISO 9001-certified.
