Connect China is undergoing a technical upgrade and will migrate from apps.thermofisher.com to apps.thermofisher.cn on May 8, 2021. If you use Connect from China, your account may be affected and you will have received a notification via email with the subject line "Important actions regarding your Connect account."

The following instructions must be followed prior to May 8, 2021 to ensure that you do not lose access to your data in Connect through this migration.


Instructions

How to download your data from Connect US

If your account will be migrated to apps.thermofisher.cn, then you will need to download any data you have stored in Connect US.

  1. Sign in to apps.thermofisher.com.
  2. Click the globe icon toward the top right of the page and make sure US is selected.


  3. Navigate to DataConnect by clicking the white folder icon in the left navigation bar.


  4. Select your Personal Files folder in the panel on the left side.
  5. Select the files and folders you would like to download from the file list to the right.
  6. Click the Download button toward the top right.


  7. Repeat steps 5-6 for any additional folders that appear in the left side panel under your Personal Files folder.

Notes:

  • Projects cannot be downloaded directly. See How to recreate your Projects on Connect China for more information.
  • If you select multiple files and folders to download, they will be compressed together in a .zip file and you will receive a download link via email.
  • If you select multiple files and folders to download (up to 8GB at a time), they will be zipped together and you will receive a download link via email.

How to download your data from Connect China

  1. Sign in to apps.thermofisher.com.
  2. Click the globe icon toward the top right of the page and make sure China is selected.


  3. Navigate to DataConnect by clicking the white folder icon in the left navigation bar.


  4. Select your Personal Files folder in the panel on the left side.
  5. Select the files and folders you would like to download from the file list to the right.
  6. Click the Download button toward the top right.


  7. Repeat steps 5-6 for any additional folders that appear in the left side panel under your Personal Files folder.

How to recreate your Projects on Connect US

  1. Sign in to apps.thermofisher.com.
  2. Click the globe icon toward the top right of the page and make sure China is selected.


  3. Download the data that was used in your projects from DataConnect.
    a. See How to download your data from Connect China for more information.
  4. Click the globe icon toward the top right of the page and to switch to Connect US.


  5. Click the Create Project button toward the top right.
  6. Name your project, select a location, and click Create.


  7. Click the Import From button toward the top right and select My Computer.
  8. Allow files to process.
  9. Once the processing has been completed, you may move on to your next project.

How to recreate your Projects on Connect China

  1. Sign in to apps.thermofisher.com.
  2. Click the globe icon toward the top right of the page and make sure US is selected.


  3. Download the data that was used in your projects from DataConnect.
    b. See How to download your data from Connect US for more information.
  4. Click the globe icon toward the top right of the page and to switch to Connect China.


  5. Click the Create Project button toward the top right.


  6. Name your project, select a location, and click Create.
  7. Click the Import From button toward the top right and select My Computer.


  8. Browse to select the files you want included in your project.
  9. Allow files to process.
  10. Once the processing has been completed, you may move on to your next project.

How to reconnect instruments on Connect US

Reconnecting an instrument typically means registering it once again. Although the process itself varies by instrument type (family), here are some general steps:

  1. Sign in to apps.thermofisher.com
  2. Click the globe icon toward the top right of the page and make sure US is selected.


  3. Navigate to InstrumentConnect by clicking the white instrument icon in the left navigation bar.


  4. Click the Link Instrument button toward the top right.


    Note
    : Users can reach the “Link Instrument” button through the Thermo Fisher Connect Dashboard or perform a similar action via the Instrument Connect Mobile App (ICMA).

  5.  Reinitiate the linking process
    a. Select the appropriate region on the instrument itself (eGUI)
    b. Complete the linking process
        i. Via Link Code/QR code
        ii. Username and Password       

How to reconnect instruments on Connect China

The process will be exactly the same as the one users would follow for reconnecting instruments on Connect US.


How to create a new thermofisher.com account

If you attempt to access thermofisher.com from China, you will be redirected to thermofisher.cn. However, you may still access thermofisher.com by following these steps:

  1. Navigate directly to apps.thermofisher.com
  2. You will be prompted to Sign In or Create an Account.
  3. Click the Create Account button.


  4. Fill in and submit the required information.

You can now log in to thermofisher.com by navigating directly to, or bookmarking, apps.thermofisher.com.


How to create a new thermofisher.cn account

  1. After migration, visit apps.https://thermofisher.cn
  2. You will be prompted to Sign In or Create an Account
  3. Click the Create Account button.


  4. Fill in and submit the required information.

You can now log in to https://thermofisher.cn


How to save your data in Oligo Perfect

If you have used our Oligo Perfect app, you may have data stored within the app that you want to keep. Follow these instructions to do so:

  1. Navigate to the Oligo Perfect app at apps.thermofisher.com/apps/oligoperfect
  2. Within the app, select the respective project (1) and select one or more sequences (2)
  3. Copy the sequences manually:
    a. CTRL+C (Windows)
    b. Command+C (Mac)
    c. Or right click and Copy
  4. Paste the sequences into a text editor of your choice.
     

How to save your data in GeneArt Strings Assistant

If you have used our GeneArt Strings app, you may have data stored within the app that you want to keep.  Follow these instructions to do so:

  1. Navigate to apps.thermofisher.com/apps/geneart-strings-check/index.html
  2. Select the respective project where you want to download the sequences (1)
  3. Select which sequences you want to download (2)
  4. Click on Actions (3)
  5. Click on “Download DNA Sequences” and you will get all selected sequences in FASTA-Format (4)
     

How to access thermofisher.com from China

If you attempt to access thermofisher.com from China, you will be redirected to thermofisher.cn. However, you may still access thermofisher.com by following these steps:

  1. Navigate directly to apps.thermofisher.com
  2. You will be prompted to Sign In or Create an Account.
  3. After you sign in or create an account, you will be able to use apps.thermofisher.com, as well as the rest of the thermofisher.com website.

If you received an email informing you that your Connect account will be migrated to thermofisher.cn, you will need to download your data from Connect US prior to May 8, 2021. See How to download your data from Connect US.

If you rely on Connect apps that are not available in Connect China, you may continue to access Connect US by navigating directly to, or bookmarking, apps.thermofisher.com.
