CSP41b Antibodies

Target Information

CSP41b is a nucleus-encoded chloroplast protein that is imported to the chloroplast and accumulates in the stroma, where it associates with ribosomes and plastid gene-expression machinery. In Arabidopsis, CSP41b is a ~41 kDa protein (about 378 aa) with an N-terminal chloroplast transit peptide and a conserved enzymatic core related to the short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase superfamily that supports RNA-binding/endoribonuclease activities; it assembles with CSP41a into higher-order ribonucleoprotein complexes. Functionally, CSP41b is a major component of light-regulated chloroplast RNA-binding complexes that selectively bind subsets of plastid mRNAs and rRNAs (including 16S and 23S rRNA), promoting their stability and supporting efficient plastid transcription and translation; loss of CSP41b reduces steady-state levels of specific chloroplast RNAs and impairs photosynthetic complex accumulation, consistent with a key role in maintaining chloroplast RNA metabolism and overall chloroplast integrity.
