Target Information

UBC7/13/14 encode members of the ubiquitin-conjugating (E2) enzyme family that operate predominantly in the cytoplasm and nucleus to transfer ubiquitin from E1 to substrate proteins in cooperation with E3 ligases. UBC14 (UBE2E1) is an E2 with a UBC catalytic domain and multiple splice isoforms; it participates in ubiquitin transfer reactions implicated in nuclear protein regulation, including histone H2A Lys119 monoubiquitination with PRC1-related activity, and shows regulated nucleo-cytoplasmic distribution linked to control of ubiquitination-dependent stability of key signaling proteins.
