Intact IgG appears on a non-reducing gel as ~150 kDa band and upon reduction generating a ~25 kDa light chain band and a ~50 kDa heavy chain.
B-cell Lymphoma 2 belongs to the BCL-2 family of regulatory proteins. Primarily, BCL-2 regulates apoptosis through the inhibition of cytochrome activity in the mitochondria of cells via a feedback loop system involving caspases. BCL-2 requires the BH4 motif for antiapoptotic activity. During apoptosis, this motif is proteolytically cleaved by caspases causing the release of Cytochrome C into the cytosol which then further promotes caspase activity and by extension becomes pro-apoptotic. BCL-2 also inhibits apoptosis by binding to the Apoptosis-Activating Factor.
