PA5-16464 targets Calcitonin in IHC (P) applications and shows reactivity with mouse, Non-human primate, Rat, Canine, Equine, Human, Ovine, and Porcine samples. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling in 10mM citrate buffer pH 6.0 for 10-20 minutes followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes.
The PA5-16464 immunogen is a synthetic peptide from human calcitonin.
Calcitonin is demonstrated in C cells of the normal and hyperplastic thyroid. Staining for calcitonin may be used for the identification of a spectrum of C cell proliferative abnormalities ranging from C cell hyperplasia to invasive tumors. Staining for calcitonin in medullary carcinoma of the thyroid produces a fine granular pattern in the cytoplasm.
