FIGURE: 1 / 1
Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Bryopsis corticulans, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, Nannochloropsis gaditana
LHCSR1 encodes a chloroplast thylakoid membrane light-harvesting complex stress-related protein that accumulates in photosynthetic membranes where it associates with antenna complexes of the photosystems. LHCSR1 is a small integral membrane pigment-binding protein of the LHC superfamily predicted to form a multi-helix (typically three transmembrane helices) fold with lumen-exposed protonatable residues and conserved chlorophyll/carotenoid-binding features that enable rapid conformational switching. Biologically, LHCSR1 is a key effector of non-photochemical quenching (NPQ), acting as a luminal pH sensor and quencher that converts excess absorbed excitation energy into heat to limit photo-oxidative damage; in reconstituted and cellular systems, small amounts of LHCSR1 can induce large, fast, and reversible low-pH-dependent quenching of LHCII, and its quenching behavior is further modulated by carotenoid composition (including zeaxanthin), supporting dual control by lumen acidification and xanthophyll binding to tune photoprotection under excess or fluctuating light.
