Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana, Picea abies, Pinus sylvestris, Setaria viridis, Solanum lycopersicum
PGR5 encodes a small chloroplast thylakoid-membrane protein that localizes to thylakoids where photosystem I electron transport occurs and is genetically and physically linked to the antimycin A-sensitive cyclic electron flow machinery via association with the PGRL1 complex. In Arabidopsis, loss of PGR5 compromises formation of the trans-thylakoid proton gradient (Delta pH) and proton motive force during illumination, indicating that the protein is required for efficient cyclic electron flow around photosystem I and/or its regulation, with consequent effects on ATP supply. Functionally, PGR5 is essential for photoprotection: by supporting Delta pH-dependent energy dissipation (qE component of non-photochemical quenching) and photosynthetic control at the cytochrome b6f complex, it helps prevent over-reduction on the acceptor side of photosystem I and limits photosystem I photoinhibition, particularly under high or fluctuating light.
