PA1-43060 was derived from human protein Z.
Protein Z is a 62-kD vitamin K-dependent plasma protein and Protein Z promotes the association of thrombin with phospholipid surfaces. Human Protein Z is synthesized with a prepro-leader sequence of 40 amino acids. The mature protein is contains 360 residues including a Gla domain of 13 carboxyglutamic acid residues, 2 epidermal growth factor domains, and a carboxyl terminal region that is highly homologous to the catalytic domain of serine proteases. Its structure is similar to that of factors VII, IX, and X, and protein C.
