In direct ELISAs and Western blots, approximately 40% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) TMEFF1 is observed and less than 5% cross-reactivity with rhTMEFF2 is observed.
Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
The TMEFF1 gene encodes the protein transmembrane protein with ependymin domain 1, which is involved in cellular signaling and neural development. TMEFF1, characterized by its transmembrane and ependymin-related domains, plays a role in the modulation of cell-cell interactions and signaling pathways essential for brain development and function. This protein is expressed predominantly in the central nervous system, where it influences neuronal differentiation and synaptic formation, contributing to the establishment and maintenance of neural circuits. TMEFF1 has been implicated in neuroprotective functions, where it supports neuronal survival in response to stress or injury. Additionally, its expression has been studied in the context of cancer biology, particularly in brain tumors, where TMEFF1 might impact tumor growth and progression through its effects on cell signaling and adhesion. Research continues to explore the specific mechanisms and interactions of TMEFF1 to better understand its roles in neural health and disease, particularly in neurodevelopmental disorders and cancer.
