PA1-958 detects VDAC2 in mouse, rat, human, rabbit, and bovine samples.
PA1-958 has been used successfully in Western blot procedures. By Western blot PA1-958 is specific for the ~30 kDa VDAC2 protein.
The PA1-958 immunogen corresponds to chicken recombinant VDAC2 protein.
The Voltage-Dependant Anion Channel (VDAC) of the outer mitochondrial membrane, a small abundant protein found in all eukaryotic kingdoms, forms a voltage-gated pore when incorporated into planar lipid bilayers. VDAC is also the site of binding of the metabolic enzymes hexokinase and glycerol kinase to the mitochondrion in what may be a significant metabolic regulatory interaction. VDAC2 appears to be only expressed in the heart.
