About This Kit
The cyclic GMP Competitive ELISA quantitates cGMP in cell or tissue lysates. The assay will exclusively recognize both natural and recombinant cyclic GMP.
Principle of the method
The cyclic GMP solid-phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is designed to measure the amount of the target bound between a matched antibody pair. A target-specific antibody has been pre-coated in the wells of the supplied microplate. Samples, standards, or controls are then added into these wells and bind to the immobilized (capture) antibody. The sandwich is formed by the addition of the second (detector) antibody, a substrate solution is added that reacts with the enzyme-antibody-target complex to produce measurable signal. The intensity of this signal is inversely proportional to the concentration of target present in the original specimen.

Target information
Guanosine cyclic 3',5'-(hydrogen phosphate) is a guanine nucleotide containing one phosphate group which is esterified to the sugar moiety in both the 3'- and 5'-positions. Cyclic gmp is a cellular regulatory agent and has been described as a second messenger. Its levels increase in response to a variety of hormones, including acetylcholine, insulin, and oxytocin and it has been found to activate specific protein kinases.
