About This Kit
The multispecies SP (Substance P) ELISA quantitates SP in serum, plasma, and other biological fluids
Principle of the method:
The Competitive multispecies ELISA research-use-only kit is designed to quantitatively measure SP(Substance P) independent of species. A SP standard is provided to generate a standard curve for the assay and all samples are read off a user-generated standard curve. Standards or diluted samples are pipetted into a coated microtiter plate and Biotinylated Detection Ab specific to SP added. Excess conjugate and unbound sample or standard are washed from the plate, and Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each well and incubated. Then a TMB substrate solution is added to each well. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution and the color change is measured on a microplate reader. The concentration of SP in the samples is then determined by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

Target information
Substance P (SP) is currently thought to be one of the most important neurotransmitters and neurotransmitters in the brain. It is an undecapeptide belonging to the tachykinin family, which consists of excitatory neuropeptides synthesised in neuronal and glial cells of the human central and peripheral nervous system. Substance P, Neurokinin A, Neuropeptide K, and Neuropeptide gamma are all generated by post-translation cleavage of the precursor Protachykinin-1. Substance P forms the major endogenous ligand for Neurokinin 1 Receptor. The pharmacology of Substance P has been associated with a number of neurological and psychiatric disorders, namely nociception, migraine, asthma, nausea, inflammatory bowel syndrome, urinary incontinence, anxiety and depression. It has also been linked to obesity.
