Thermo Fisher Scientific “Counting on You” Series Honored with Transplant Community Hero Award

Through a series of six stories, our “Counting on You” campaign details the realities transplant patients face in counting on donors, practitioners, and others to help them survive. It also celebrates the many opportunities, milestones, and experiences those patients are able to “count” once they receive their life-saving transplant. In doing so, it demonstrates our commitment to amplifying the patient voice and reinforces our role in delivering better patient outcomes.

“The ‘Counting on You’ campaign is incredibly inspiring,” said Ava Kaufman, founder of the Ava’s Heart Hero Awards. “It shows real people from all walks of life being grateful for the gift of life. So many people take life for granted, but ‘Counting on You’ shows that the simple things like laughing and eating together, going for a walk, riding your bike are precious. It shows what being a donor actually does for real people.”

Nicole Brockway, President, Transplant Diagnostics, Thermo Fisher Scientific, attended the gala and accepted the Ava’s Heart Hero Award on behalf of our team. “It was incredibly humbling. I am so proud to be part of this organization focused on improving the lives of transplant patients. To be recognized by Ava, one of our featured patients in ‘Counting on You,’ and her nonprofit Ava’s Heart, which does so much for the transplant community, makes the award all the more special,” said Brockway.

We are honored to join a prestigious group of fellow Hero and Inspire Award winners, including UCLA Health, Donate Life, and the Transplant Life Foundation, as well as writers of TV shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Chicago Med” and “The Good Doctor.”
