An inhibitor of alkaline phosphatase isoenzymes. It is also an inhibitor of cellular transport of arginine by a sodium-independent high affinity y+ transporter. The substitution of homoarginine for arginine or lysine renders proteins resistant to proteolysis by trypsin. Arginine residues are often located at the active centers of proteins and enzymes. Replacing these arginines with homoarginine can elucidate protein function and structural requirements.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
