How can I prepare LB-ampicillin using Ampicillin (Cat. No. J60977)?
We recommend the following the instructions to prepare LB-ampicillin:
- Dissolve the following in 500 mL dH2O:
- 5g tryptone
- 2.5g yeast extract
- 5.0g NaCl
- 7.5g agar OR
- 20g pre-mixed LB agar powder
- Boil the solution on a hot plate while stirring for 1-2 minutes.
- Autoclave the solution for 20 minutes and let cool to 50-60°C.
- Add 25 mg ampicillin and swirl or stir on a hot plate to mix.
- Pour approximately 10 mL of molten LB agar into each plate.
- Allow plates to solidify for approximately 20 minutes.
