Human IL-2 Protein (PHC0026) in Bioactivity
THP-1 cells were treated with 20 ng/mL of human IL-2 recombinant protein (Product # PHC0023) for 24 hours. Western blot was performed using anti-CIS recombinant rabbit polyclonal antibody (Product # 710864) and a 30 kDa band corresponding to CIS was observed to be upregulated upon the treatment. Tubulin was used as a loading control.

Reconstitution: Centrifuge the vial briefly, before opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Reconstitute the lyophilized protein in100 mM acetic acid to 0.1-1.0 mg/mL to regain full activity. Make any further dilutions of the reconstituted protein in low endotoxin medium or buffered solution with FBS or tissue culture grade BSA.
Storage: Store the lyophilized protein at 2-8°C, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, apportion into working aliquots and store at ≤-20°C (not in a frost-free freezer). Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Target Information
Interleukin 2 (IL-2) is an immuno-modulatory cytokine that is important for the proliferation of activated T cells, differentiation of B cells, natural killer cells, monocytes and macrophages. IL-2 signals through the IL-2 receptor (IL-2R), a heterotrimeric protein complex whose gamma chain is also shared by interleukin 4 (IL-4) and interleukin 7 (IL-7). The expression of the IL-2 gene in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, which represents an unusual regulatory mode for controlling the precise expression of a single gene. The targeted disruption of a gene similar to IL-2 in mice leads to an ulcerative colitis-like disease that suggests an essential role of this gene in the immune response to antigenic stimuli.
