Highest antigen sequence indentity to the following orthologs: Mouse (87%), Rat (87%).
This recombinant protein control fragment may be used for blocking experiments with the corresponding antibody, PA5-58895. In IHC/ICC and WB experiments, we recommend a 100x molar excess of the protein fragment control based on the concentration and the molecular weight. Pre-incubate the antibody-protein control fragment mixture for 30 min at room temperature.
Small cell adhesion glycoprotein (SMAGP) is a gene located on chromosome 1p33 that encodes a transmembrane protein involved in cell adhesion processes. SMAGP is primarily expressed in epithelial tissues and plays a role in maintaining cellular architecture and tissue integrity. This glycoprotein contributes to the organization of cell-cell junctions, which are critical for epithelial barrier function and communication between cells. Altered expression of SMAGP has been observed in various cancers, including gastric and colorectal cancers, where it may influence tumor progression and metastasis by affecting cellular adhesion and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Research into SMAGP continues to explore its functional mechanisms in epithelial biology and its potential as a biomarker for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. By providing insights into the molecular pathways governing cell adhesion and tumorigenesis, studies on SMAGP contribute to the broader understanding of cancer biology and therapeutic opportunities.
