Free NanoDrop operating software to update your instrument

Make sure you’re operating your Thermo Scientific NanoDrop Microvolume Spectrophotometer with full functionality. Based on input from customers like you, we are constantly updating and evolving NanoDrop software to deliver greater capabilities and efficiencies in the lab.

You can download and install the latest operating software by following the steps in this section. Minimum computer and operating system requirements needed to run each NanoDrop instrument are described in the installation section.

 

Tip: If you are using a NanoDrop One/OneC or NanoDrop Eight instrument in a regulated environment, you can also purchase optional compliance software that helps you meet FDA 21 CFR Part 11 requirements for electronic recordkeeping. NanoDrop instrument registration

Registration is a one-time process that allows you to receive alerts when new software is available for your instrument, and helps verify your warranty status.

 

When you register, make sure to check the box allowing marketing emails from Thermo Fisher Scientific, as we cannot alert you to new updates without your permission.


NanoDrop software download

The table lists the latest operating software versions available for your instrument. To check your current version, select System Settings (on your NanoDrop One/OneC or NanoDrop Eight instrument) or select Help > About from the menu in the software on your PC (for all other instruments).

 

Latest operating software for NanoDrop instruments

To download the latest version:

  1. If your instrument is connected to a computer, disconnect the USB cable before downloading the software.
  2. Click Download and fill out the form, including your model name and serial number.
  3. Download the file(s) from the acknowledgement page that appears.

Once the file(s) are downloaded to your computer, come back to this page and refer to the appropriate section for installation instructions.


NanoDrop One/Oneᶜ software installation

Because the NanoDrop One/OneC spectrophotometer can be controlled from either its local touchscreen or from a connected PC, you will need to install software update files for both.

 

Important: To ensure data transfer and viewing, the software versions for local instrument and PC control must match. For example, if you are updating your local NanoDrop One Operating and help software to version 2.10 (March 2023), make sure to update your PC Control software to version 2.10 (March 2023) as well.

NanoDrop One/OneC help system files (May 2017)

Install local control software on your NanoDrop One/Oneᶜ instrument via a USB drive

  1. Transfer the NanoDrop One/OneC Local Control Software file from the download directory on your PC to a USB device.
    • Please do not attempt to unzip the file. The software is zipped and password protected when downloaded and is not intended to be unzipped.
  2. If you downloaded an optional non-English help system, transfer it to the USB device as well.
  3. Insert the USB device into any USB port on the NanoDrop One/OneC instrument.
  4. From the instrument Home screen, tap Settings > System > Update Software.
  5. Select the local control software file (with English help) to install and tap Done.
  6. When the installation is complete, the message Update complete appears. Tap OK.
  7. The screen will prompt you to restart the instrument. Tap OK.
  8. If you downloaded a non-English help system, repeat steps 4–7 with the alternate help system to install it.

(Optional) Install a custom method on your NanoDrop One/Oneᶜ instrument via a USB drive

You can create a custom method to analyze your own samples in your own way or make use of several custom methods that we’ve predefined. To install a custom method to your NanoDrop One/OneC instrument, click its link below to download the method file to your PC.

 

Predefined NanoDrop One/OneC custom methods

  1. Unzip the custom method download file and transfer the resulting method file to a USB device.
  2. Insert the USB device into any USB port on the NanoDrop One/OneC instrument.
  3. From the instrument Home screen, tap the Custom tab, select the Custom application, and select the USB port.
  4. Tap Load Method. Custom methods on the USB will appear in the Load Method dialog.
  5. Tap to select the custom method file(s) you want and tap Load. The selected method(s) will appear on the Custom method selection screen.
  6. Tap the custom method of interest to review method details.
  7. Tap Run Method to start a measurement.

Install PC Control software on your Ethernet-connected PC

NanoDrop One PC Control software gives you the flexibility to control the operation of your instrument from an Ethernet-connected PC. The software is compatible with Windows 10 Pro (64 bit) or higher.

  1. After downloading the PC Control software as described in the table above, double-click the filename and follow the prompts to install it.

NanoDrop Eight software installation

The NanoDrop Eight spectrophotometer is controlled from a Windows PC connected by a USB cable. The operating software is compatible with Windows 10 Professional and Enterprise Build 1607 or higher.

 

You must be an administrator on the computer to install the software. Remember to disconnect the instrument from the computer while you download and install the software on your computer.

  1. Shut down your NanoDrop instrument and unplug the power supply.
  2. After downloading the operating software to your computer as described above, double-click the filename and follow the prompts to install it.
  3. Connect the instrument to your computer via the USB cable.
  4. Attach the instrument to its power supply and turn it ON by pressing the power toggle switch on the back.

NanoDrop Lite Plus software installation

Install software on your NanoDrop Lite Plus instrument via a USB drive:

  1. Transfer the NanoDrop Lite Plus Software file from the download directory on your PC to a FAT32 Formatted USB device.
  2. Double click or run the “nanodrop-lite-plus-v1.2.1" in the root directory of the USB drive to complete the decompression operation.
  3. Make sure the “Extract to:” location is the USB drive and select Extract.
  4. Insert the USB drive into the instrument, enter the Maintenance menu and swipe up to select Software Update.
  5. Select the “Sofware Version” option and click the Update button to start the software update operation.
  6. After the update is complete, you can remove the USB drive and tap OK.

NanoDrop 3300 software installation

The NanoDrop 3300 operating software is compatible with Windows 7 Professional (32 bit and 64 bit), Windows 8.1 (64 bit), and Windows 10 (64 bit).

 

You must be an administrator on the computer to install the software. Remember to disconnect the instrument from the computer while you download and install the software on your computer.

Uninstall previous software versions

Prior to installing the latest software version, all previous versions of NanoDrop 3300 and associated software must be uninstalled.

  1. Open Control Panel and go to Programs and Features.
  2. Uninstall the following software:
    • NanoDrop 3300 64-bit driver
    • NanoDrop 3300 v2.x.x
  3. Double-click National Instruments Software and uninstall the following software:
    • NI-VISA Runtime
    • LabVIEW Runtime
  4. Once the software has been uninstalled, restart the computer.

Install the latest operating software

  1. Locate the software file that you downloaded from the table above, double-click the filename, and follow the prompts to install it on your computer.
  2. Once the installation has been completed, restart your computer.
  3. Connect the instrument to your computer via the USB cable. This will complete the driver installation.
  4. Allow 2–3 minutes for the drivers to install and then launch the software.
    • No additional drivers are needed; all required drivers install with the software.

NanoDrop 2000/2000c software installation

The NanoDrop 2000/2000c operating software is compatible with Windows 7 Professional (32 bit and 64 bit), Windows 8.1 Professional (64 bit), and Windows 10 Pro (64 bit).

 

You must be an administrator on the computer to install the software.

  1. Turn off the instrument and disconnect both the power cord and the USB cable while you download and install the software on your computer.
  2. If you have previously installed an earlier software version, uninstall it before proceeding.
  3. Locate the software file that you downloaded from the table above, double-click the filename, and follow the prompts to install it on your computer.
  4. Once the installation has completed, connect the power to the instrument.
  5. Then connect the instrument to your computer via the USB cable. This will complete the driver installation.
  6. Allow 2–3 minutes for the driver to install. Once the popup window indicates that the hardware has successfully installed, launch the software.
    • No additional drivers are needed; the required driver installs with the software.

NanoDrop 8000 software installation

The NanoDrop 8000 operating software is compatible with Windows 7 Professional (32 bit and 64 bit), Windows 8.1 (64 bit), and Windows 10 (64 bit).

 

You must be an administrator on the computer to install the software. Remember to disconnect the instrument from the computer when you download the software.

  1. If you have previously installed an earlier software version, uninstall it before proceeding.
  2. Locate the software file that you downloaded from the table above, double-click the filename, and follow the prompts to install it on your computer.
  3. Once the installation has completed, connect the instrument to your computer via the USB cable. This will complete the driver installation.
  4. Allow at least 30 seconds for the three drivers to install and then launch the software.
    • No additional drivers are needed; the required drivers install with the software.

NanoDrop 1000 software installation

The NanoDrop 1000 operating software is compatible with Windows 7 Professional (32 bit and 64 bit), Windows Vista (32 bit), and Windows XP (32 bit).

 

You must be an administrator on the computer to install the software.

  1. Turn off the instrument and disconnect both the power cord and the USB cable while you download the software on your computer.
  2. If you have previously installed an earlier software version, uninstall it before proceeding.
  3. Locate the software file that you downloaded from the table above, double-click the filename, and follow the prompts to install it on your computer.
  4. Once the installation has completed, connect the power to the instrument.
  5. Then connect the instrument to your computer via the USB cable. This will complete the driver installation.
  6. Allow 2–3 minutes for the driver to install. Once the popup window indicates that the hardware has successfully installed, launch the software.
    • No additional drivers are needed; the required driver installs with the software.

NanoDrop regulatory compliance software

If you are using a NanoDrop One/OneC or NanoDrop Eight instrument in a regulated environment, you can also purchase optional compliance software that helps you meet FDA 21 CFR Part 11 requirements for electronic recordkeeping. The modules let you control user account access, apply digital signatures, and review audit lots, and can be installed on a central computer to manage settings across multiple instruments.
