CDY1, CDY2, CDYL1, and CDYL2 are members of the chromodomain Y-like (CDY) family of proteins, which are involved in chromatin remodeling and gene regulation. CDY1 and CDY2 are Y-linked genes specifically important for spermatogenesis, while CDYL1 and CDYL2 are autosomal and have broader roles in regulating chromatin structure and gene expression in various tissues. These proteins contribute to processes such as development, differentiation, and cellular response to environmental signals, and their dysfunction can be linked to reproductive and developmental disorders.
