Our comprehensive array of Thermo Scientific Pierce custom antibody services includes a customizable option for goat immunization, serum collection, and titer analysis for goat antibody production, plus several extension possibilities.

Custom Antibody Request

Highlights

  • Custom goat antibodies—a reliable protocol for immunizing goats, collecting serum, testing bleeds, reporting titer results and delivering plasma
  • Track and customize project—track and manage projects online with OpenProject Tool: you decide which animals to continue or terminate
  • Full service integration—combine this immunization service with our complete set of services for antigen preparation and antibody purification
2-goat 120-day immunization protocol

This goat immunization schedule uses two mixed-breed goats (usually Boer/Nubian or Alpine, unless specifically requested) for each immunogen. Injections are intradermal (ID) as emulsions in Complete Freund's Adjuvant (CFA) or Incomplete Freund's Adjuvant (IFA); alternative adjuvants can be used upon request. Customizations to the protocol are available. For example, you can choose the number of goats needed, and you can adjust the length of your protocol beyond the 120-day immunization schedule to meet your research goals. Please contact us to discuss the options in detail. Antigen preparation, such as peptide synthesis and/or immunogen conjugation, occurs before Day 0. Protocol Days are approximate (± 2 days).

Procedure Protocol day Description
Control serum collection Day 0 Pre-immune bleed (~5 mL per goat)
Primary injection Day 1 Immunize with 0.50 mg antigen in CFA, ID 20 sites
1st booster Day 14 Boost with 0.50 mg antigen in IFA, ID 20 sites
2nd booster Day 28 Boost with 0.50 mg antigen in IFA, ID 20 sites
Serum collection Day 42 Test-bleed (~5 mL) per goat
3rd booster Day 56 Boost with 0.50 mg antigen in IFA, ID 20 sites
Serum collection Day 56 Test-bleed (~5 mL) per goat
4th booster Day 70 Boost with 0.50 mg antigen in IFA, ID 20 sites
5th booster Day 84 Boost with 0.50 mg antigen in IFA, ID 20 sites
Serum collection Day 84 Test-bleed (~5 mL) per goat
6th booster Day 98 Boost with 0.50 mg antigen in IFA, ID 20 sites
7th booster Day 112 Boost with 0.50 mg antigen in IFA, ID 20 sites
Serum collection Day 112 Test-bleed (~5mL) per goat
ELISA and shipping Day 118 ELISA titration (results available online);
Verify disposition of goats; decide to continue or terminate;
Plasmapheresis from one goat (~1,000 mL serum),
taken when requested by customer
Instruction due date Day 120 If no animal instructions are received, per diem charges will apply;
Extension protocol is recommended with titer monitoring by ELISA
