ImmunoCAP™ Total IgE measures the total amount of circulating IgE in human serum or plasma samples.1 IgE antibodies can appear as a result of sensitization to allergens. In many patients suffering from asthma, rhinitis, or atopic dermatitis due to allergy, the concentration of total IgE may be elevated.1,3-5

ImmunoCAP Total IgE is a fully quantitative test that provides accurate levels of circulating IgE within a wide measuring range between 2 to 5000 kU/L.1 For patients with low serum IgE levels, ImmunoCAP Total IgE Low Range offers quantitative measurement between 0.1-100 kU/L.2

 

Clinical utility

  • Total serum IgE levels vary with atopic status6 and are an aid for healthcare professionals in the clinical diagnosis of IgE-mediated allergic disorders.1,2
  • For patients with suspected occupational allergy without an atopic background, elevated serum IgE levels provide an indication of sensitization caused by high allergen exposure.7,8
  • Parasite intestinal infections have been shown to induce the production of IgE, resulting in elevated serum IgE levels.9
