The ExpiCHO SPM formulation is optimized for the ExpiCHO-S cells and outperforms other CHO medium on the market.

Figure 1 illustrates a comparative analysis. Stable clones were developed using the ExpiCHO stable clone development protocol and then transitioned to test media for an Ambr15 run. The highest output was achieved by ExpiCHO SPM, with the liquid and AGT (dry) formats performing comparably. The data represents 16 replicates for each format of ExpiCHO SPM and 3 replicates each for ActiPro and Advanced CHO respectively.

Find your optimal match with Gibco cell culture media

There are several pathways to find the right media or media and feed solution for CHO cell cultures. These pathways include selecting a standard or off-the-shelf media, our CHO media test panel, or a media development or optimization service. In order to find the right path, we need to remove the biggest obstacle; luck.

Often time, your goals on what you want to accomplish will narrow down the best selections for you.

Questions to consider:

  • What are you hoping to accomplish?
  • Do you know your timeline?
  • What is most critical?

For the panels, provides regularity support needed to succeed in getting approvals.

Resources and/or Expertise

Need to outsource or consultation on your process

Secondary sourcing

Increase capacity of your own media and mitigate risk

Scale-up solutions

Transitioning from a liquid to a dry format during scale-up or performance support during scale-up or tech transfer

Improved performance

Optimal solution that delivers on your performance criteria

Platform media

Options that work better than current platform for multiple molecules

Regulatory support

We offer royalty free CHO cell lines and documentation for regulatory filings.

Frequently, cell line specific component dependencies, like insulin and other growth factors, are missed when evaluating media. These are components that are needed for your cell line to thrive (growth, productivity) and if they are not present in the tested media, you may miss out on the optimal solution.

Matching media to your cell line should include an evaluation of whether these dependencies are in the media of choice or not (Table 1 and 2) to determine whether you need to add them in or not.

Even with the cell line dependency component, in most cases, adaptation is required to see optimal results.

Additional components may also need to be considered for an optimal outcome (Table 3).

Questions:

  • Do you know if your cell line has any dependencies?
  • Are you planning on adapting the cells to the media?
  • Are other considerations necessary for the best result?

Table 2 lists media without growth factors

Our media test panel does not contain typical cell line dependencies by default and can be added in as requested.

Our service offerings will evaluate these factors and other factors as specified.

Considerations

Additional components may be necessary for optimal performance (Table 3).
