AmpliTaq DNA Polymerase

Applied Biosystems AmpliTaq DNA Polymerase is a recombinant preparation of Taq DNA Polymerase. AmpliTaq DNA Polymerase is used in standard research applications such as routine PCR, genotyping, and colony PCR.

AmpliTaq DNA Polymerase is available in different formulations as summarized in the table below. AmpliTaq 360 DNA Polymerase and AmpliTaq LD DNA Polymerase are ultra-pure preparations that are used for experiments where it is important to reduce the incidence of false positives.

Stand-alone enzyme from low DNA (LD) preparation1 

1 Applied Biosystems AmpliTaq DNA Polymerase, LD (Low DNA), is the same enzyme as AmpliTaq DNA Polymerase, but is further purified through a proprietary separation process to ensure that residual bacterial DNA sequences are substantially reduced. The enzyme is quality-control tested to verify that fewer than 10 copies of bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequences are present in a standard 2.5 unit aliquot.

AmpliTaq 360 Polymerase reagents amplify a broad range of targets

PCR reactions were performed using 1 ng of template DNA and 1.25 units of enzyme in each 50 µL reaction. Annealing was uniform across the selected targets. Amplicons ranged from 300 to 1,400 base pairs (bp) in length with an average length of 553 bp. Each reaction was performed in duplicate. Amplicons are labeled as follows: High AT, Easy Amplification, Primer Dimer, Homopolymer, Sequencing Challenge, Long, and High GC. The high GC target reactions included 2–10 µL of 360 GC Enhancer depending upon the target used.
