Volume II, Edition 10
Our Calibrator Certification Service compares and validates the Thermo Scientific™ Model 81i Mercury Calibrator to a National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) traceable Vendor Prime. Consider these 5 tips and tricks when certifying your calibrator:
Specify your calibration range
When sending us your calibrator, please be sure to specify the calibration range you require so the instrument is returned to you exactly as needed. For more information on calibrator certification ranges, see our Calibrator Certification Service specification sheet.
Submit an online RGA for certification
Filling out a Return Goods Authorization (RGA) form online is the quickest and easiest way to start the process of sending your calibrator to the factory for certification. Upon submitting the form, you will receive an RGA number along with service request instructions. Once you have an RGA number, you can ship your product to Franklin and track the repair or calibration. Please print the instructions and submit with shipment.
Obtain and maintain NIST certification
The Thermo Scientific™ Calibrator Certification Service compares and validates the Thermo Scientific™ Model 81i Mercury Calibrator, as well as the Thermo Scientific™ High Level Model 81iH and Low Level Model 81iL Calibrators, to a NIST Traceable Vendor Prime or Field Reference Generator. The service includes:
- Calibration to NIST-traceable reference methods
- Compliance with Utility MATS and Cement MACT
- Relative Accuracy Test Audits
- NIST-traceable documentation verifying concentration output
Contact a service representative to discuss your options at 866-282-0430, option 3. Refer to Fast5 Tips and Tricks: Mercury Calibrator Options for more information.
Convert your existing mercury calibrator
If you currently own a standard Thermo Scientific Model 81i Mercury Calibrator, you can convert to either a low level or high level, depending on your application, without the need to buy a new calibrator. This can be done at our facility with turnaround times that work for your site. This conversion includes a NIST-traceable certification at your desired span. Complete the service request form or call 866-282-0430, option 1.
Advanced system calibration
After you have a certified unit in the system, you can maintain calibration in the field. Utilize the method outlined in the Advanced Instrument and System Calibrations technical bulletin to extend the calibration time period.
