TaqMan SNP Genotyping Assays use TaqMan 5´ nuclease assay chemistry to amplify and detect specific SNP alleles in purified genomic DNA samples. Each predesigned TaqMan SNP Genotyping Assay in our collection includes two allele-specific TaqMan MGB probes containing distinct fluorescent dyes and a PCR primer pair to detect specific SNP targets using 48-, 96-, and 384-well real-time PCR instruments. These TaqMan probe and primer sets (assays) uniquely align with the genome to provide unmatched specificity for the allele of interest.

Amplify DNA and achieve allelic discrimination by running the PCR reaction on an Applied Biosystems real-time PCR system and/or thermal cycler. To better evaluate the accuracy of genotype calls, perform real-time time PCR and obtain genotyping data for every cycle. Or for higher throughput, run PCR on a thermal cycler and then perform an endpoint read on a real-time instrument.
