Custom TaqMan gene expression assays offer a highly flexible and precise solution for the relative quantification of RNA expression tailored to specific research needs. Custom assays allow researchers to target any coding or non-coding RNA in any organism by either providing their target sequence of interest or submitting their own primer/probe sequences. The streamlined process facilitates the rapid development of assays, enabling researchers to conduct detailed RNA expression studies with high reproducibility and accuracy. This customization capability makes custom TaqMan gene expression assays a valuable resource for a wide range of genomic research applications.
Each custom assay is a mix of forward primer, reverse primer, and FAM™ or VIC™ dye-labeled TaqMan® MGB probe. Designed to run under universal oligo concentration and thermal cycling conditions for two-step RT-PCR, these assays are simple to use. Just add TaqMan® Master Mix and your cDNA sample to generate sensitive, reproducible, and truly quantitative RNA expression data.
There are two custom assay options to meet RNA research needs: Custom TaqMan Gene Expression Assays and Custom Plus Applied Biosystems TaqMan RNA Assays. Both allow a target sequence to be submitted to our TaqMan Assay design pipeline, which then uses the input sequence to design custom primer and probe sequences. Custom Plus TaqMan RNA Assays are designed using the full bioinformatic power of the TaqMan assay design pipeline, which uses proprietary algorithms that have generated millions of assay designs. If bioinformatics or QC checks are not needed on the sequences, then the standard custom TaqMan gene expression assays are recommended. For Custom Plus, select to have bioinformatic analysis performed on your sequences.
Submitting a target sequence is straightforward with the Custom Assay Design Tool. Researchers can easily select their bioinformatic analysis and assay specificity preferences before entering their target sequence. All sequence submissions are kept completely confidential, with no sharing of target or assay sequences with third parties. For those without a pre-defined input sequence, the Custom Assay Design Tool provides powerful search capabilities, allowing users to find sequences by keyword (such as gene symbol or accession number) or by genomic location across a wide range of well-studied model species, including human, mouse, rat, dog, cow, pig, Arabidopsis, and more.
