The TaqMan Advanced miRNA system effectively manages the typically low RNA amounts of serum and plasma starting materials. Unlike traditional pre-amplification, the miR-Amp primers in the ligation-based cDNA synthesis kit recognize the universal sequences added to every miRNA on the 5’ and 3’ ends, to help prevent amplification bias. Representing some of the most sensitive and specific assays available, TaqMan Advanced miRNA Assays accurately detect as few as 60 copies from as little as 1pg of total RNA or 2 µL of serum/plasma.

Gold-standard TaqMan specificity
TaqMan Advanced miRNA Assays easily discriminate between closely related mature miRNAs differing by as little as one base. The TaqMan Advanced miRNA system goes even further to offer superior levels of specificity and sensitivity with closely related miRNAs that differ by only 1 bp at the 5’end—the highly conserved "seed region" of homologous miRNAs.

Universal reverse transcription
The TaqMan Advanced miRNA cDNA Synthesis Kit has a universal reverse transcription (RT) step to simplify the upfront workflow. Using 3’ poly-A tailing and 5’ ligation of an adaptor sequence to extend the miRNA on each end prior to reverse transcription, the cDNA is universally amplified using miR-Amp primers and miR-Amp master mix to uniformly increase the amount of cDNA.

Have multiple miRNA targets from a single amplified sample
Are limited in quantity (e.g., serum, plasma, or other biological fluids)
