| Organism Type | Rabbit | Male New Zealand rabbits (1-2 kg) were anesthetized with 30 mg/kg pentobarbital (Abbott Laboratories, North Chicago, IL), and the thorax and abdomen were opened by a midline incision. The aorta was rapidly removed, and VSMC were isolated. Cells between four and eight passages were plated in 12 or 24 wells or 100-mm plates. Cells were maintained under 5% CO2 in M-199 medium with penicillin, streptomycin, and 10% FBS. |
